I mean, you can generally go by a helpful guide of like 1/4 lb a person AT MOST when using ground meat. I cook with ground chicken and ground pork all the time. That's why recipes will call for a poundish of ground meat most of the time. Cooking is all about proportions, so even if you aren't following an exact recipe, you do want the basics to be in the correct proportions of ingredients or it's not gonna taste great. Cooking is a bit more free flying than baking, but still.

I plan meals about 10 days out and make very exact lists cause I'm anal retentive lol. Matt hates going to more than one store of will question why I'm not buying this incredibly cheap butter (that is actually not butter at all) instead of this one or why are you buying this cheese? Wait, but why not this? I get myself lunch, some espresso, I shop at my own pace and if I'm lucky he's done some cleaning when I come home.

Ok, yes, I don't mean serving size as in the box, those are always janked up (though I eat the serving size usually since I'm tiny.) A recipe serving is vastly different from the box and I usually portion out about 1.5 servings for Matt when I'm cooking.

Good morning folks. Back from a day in the big city for my lady's birthday. Did you know that the flagship Macy's in New York City has a really nice Italian restaurant in it?

I notice the Z drought continues, but hope we're all chugging along. Good turking to all today!

Come back from driving the lady to work and see the forum is already at 20 pages...it's either slow, or @Randomacts has upped his game.

This reminds me of my time dating the wifu. We had some hot texts but IRL she was very awkward and difficult to read. I told her on our second date that she was hard to read and reading braille being blind without having fingers was easier than reading her expressions. She changed her ways after that comment lel.

In 25 years of cooking (since I was 8) I have never not had someone love something I have made, think I know what I am doing on that front. I don't do recipes because I always think its such a small amount and it can be dangerous increasing amounts (even proportionately) in recipes... I have actually been told I should have a restaurant or do food network or something but just like other things in my life I am good at... once it becomes a chore or job instead of doing it for love I got a feeling I might grow to hate it and not be as good at it as I am now

Yes, it's only this site, and only if logged in.
I doubt it's ISP in that case. And like I said, two computers and multiple browsers *shrug* . and yes, I've cleared cache all the way around.

Learning to pre-portion meat is a big thing lol. My food saver gets a lot of use on grocery day. Although admittedly I probably use ground meat about 3 times year anymore. I just don't like it. Too much mystery filler in most of it.

Geez you would hate me. I never plan meals anymore. Instead I go to the store buy whatever fresh meat and veggies are on sale and decide what to do with them on the fly. I have a VERY well stocked spice cabinet and rack and drawer.... so a little of this a little of that and voila dinner lol. It saves a ton on groceries but is sometimes hard to recreate when it comes out really good.

Yay a fellow butter snob! I won't buy anything called butter that has more than 3 ingredients lol.

For what that's worth.. I have no clue why but something did done brokeded.

^This. I always have the problem of cooking too much or eating so little that everything just lives in the fridge until it dies so I learned to buy exactly what I'm going to eat that day thereby cooking small portions

Well, someone isn't using enough veggies, legumes, complex grains, etc! You wouldn't be hangry at my house! Matt eats till he falls over and even then I have to take it away from him cause he will keep going if it's in front of him.

    [
I use all the apps to check weekly sales before I leave the house and plan my menus around that a lot. And yes, stocked pantries are the best! I like to keep things exciting in the house, so I like to take trips around the world during the week with my cooking so to speak. When I lived in Europe, I took classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and it was SO FUN! One of the highlights of my life for sure. I've been cooking since I could barely walk and loved getting to learn so many advanced things I've only watched my Uncle do till then. I have a dairy farm down the road I get fresh butter from in a giant 2 pound log, it's the best!

Invest in some good freezer tupperware too! A lot of things freeze relatively well and reheat in the oven nicely. I like to cook extra of things and toss them in a nice freezer to oven safe tupperware so if I need a meal or lunch for Matt on the fly, it's already there!

Ohhh no I buy for the whole week I just don't buy things for specific recipes. I would rather cut off my own arm than go to the store every day lol. It took a little balancing not to buy too much random stuff though so it didn't rot. I have a pretty good balance down now.

My brother and I just go to costco every 2 weeks or so. Outside of special trips to the market we have everything we need.
