Thanks, I did just that. It is running normal now.

I also realized I never enabled hyperthreading on this processor, so I just did that. Don't know if that helps or not. /shrug

I had HT enabled on my own machine back when I was mixing music, because it provided performance benefits with big mixing projects in my DAW back then.

But when I started getting serious about playing games competitively, I turned it off, because it generally helps a bit with single-core processes (or processes that don't have at least one thread per physical core).

Javascript itself is mostly single-threaded (the exceptions being web workers and a good chunk of the asynchronous native code called by Javascript code that runs in the background to react to events or get things done), so for a quad-core+ machine, you're probably slightly better off with HT turned off. But the difference isn't really huge or anything in my experience.
