I love that he makes grilling as basic as possible. That's video had a really expensive porterhouse and he used a cinder block and the grill grate with the charcoal starter. You could pull that together for maybe $30 with most of it going to the starter.

I would be capping most days if I was sure about what to do. I have written a few Requesters asking them to clarify and never get a response. So, I usually do 5-20 and wait for them to approve and of course by then the hits are long gone. Each Requester and set of hits is different, so it's not like we do the same thing over and over and should know what to do or how they want us to handle things. I would have a heart attack if I woke up to 300 rejections and it would ruin my stats. (well not ruin- I have 28 rejections and over 100,000 hits, but it's the point.) Also not talking about hits that are always here and we do most days.

 

Yeah exactly. He makes everything seem super luxurious even though it's something anyone can pull off in their own home (or outside, obviously). While explaining the science behind it just for funsies. I love it.

I'm gonna flambe a filet this week with some garlic parsley butter because Matt asked nicely. It's gonna be siiiiick. Pair it with some gruyere smashed potatoes. Gonna eat that right up. Def gonna set off my smoke alarm when I forget to put it outside. NO SMOKE ALARM, THE FLAMBE FLAME IS NOT A FIRE, SHUT UP!

I went through a flambe all the things phase. I'm shocked I kept both my eyebrows. Matt got me a blowtorch as a gift, and I went buck wild figuring out how many things I could use that for just because I wanted to earlier this year. Don't ever tell me I can't flambe a risotto if I feel like, cause I will just to spite you.

I basically love fire and food and my goal is to find every insane way I can make that happen.

And he's one of those people who you can tell is just incredibly passionate and knowledgable about everything he's talking about, which rubs off and immediately makes anyone listening passionate about it.

I used to go to this Japanese place that would only serve their steaks rare to medium. I loved the bravado of the chef that just said "fuck you, I'm not ruining this $50 plate because you don't know how to eat steak."

Exactly! That type of stuff makes me so giddy. Hell, I got into the thrill of hockey cards just because someone talked about it so passionately and taught me so much in one conversation. I'm the same way with Adam Savage and James May. Anything either of them talk about is incredibly interesting to me just because they care about it so much. Hell, James May has a series where he literally just disassembles things to reassemble them. It's objectively boring as shit, but he cares about it so much it's awesome. It's so contagious to see people care about things.
