I use a work station I put together on the cheap, Intel Xeon w3680 6 core, 32 GB ram, Nvidia Quadro 4000. It gets the job done.

 

what motherboard? i think i should just make a whole new build and keep this as my backup or something

Tried playing Arkham Knight again last night. Got a little farther, but got annoyed with the whole "must use the tank to progress the story LOLZ", so back it goes on the shelf for another 2 months. At this rate, I'll probably play Asylum/City again before I finish Knight.

An SSD is an awesome upgrade IMO and they are getting cheaper. Even an economy one will give you a boot time increase and decrease loading time of programs and rendering elements in games. Depending on what size you want, both of these brands are great and these are similar spec wise for good brand name economy drives. I have a Crucial drive in my old pc for a few years with no problems and my new pc has one of those Samsung 850 Evo's.

I don't see any system requirements for GTA VI out yet but V wasn't horribly demanding and you may very well be okay with what you have now. However, there are a couple options for upgrades to your video card. Or you would go with a 470 if you wanted something a bit better but it'll cost you.
If you want to switch to Nvidia then I really like their GTX 1050ti. If I'm ever in a position to upgrade my old pc that's probably what I'll get.

There are some options for you to look over and see what you think. You could install something like Rainmeter with illustro gadgets and look at your CPU and RAM usage to see if you're bottlenecking on either of those. You should be fine with 8GB RAM but you can see if your CPU in general is running high. If you don't notice anything like that while you're working etc then you might consider the SSD first. Get one big enough for your OS and most frequently used programs/games. Then do CPU and finally video card. That might make the most sense for your usage.

Just my $.02. I use a Commodore 64 connected to the internet via some tin cans and twine. I've got a black and white TV from 1973 which I use as a second monitor. It's a pretty sweet set up
