    I heard about it from Joe Rogan's podcast and looked into it. reddit.com/r/keto has some seriously motivating stories and progress pics to help you keep going. And it's a great little community. I don't really follow a specific program, I just do what my body says to do.

    It's becoming extremely trendy and I think Joe Rogan's podcast is a huge reason for it. He gets like 50 million podcast downloads a month and I'm pretty sure he mentions his diet in every single podcast at some point.

    My problem is I would eventually feel so carb starved I'd cave and eat a carb heavy meal and would feel like crap for 3 days after and my cravings would be super intense for the next week after that. I often had stomach issues as well. By the end of it they were getting pretty bad, and my doctor said it was likely due to all the sugar substitute chemicals that they use to make the foods low carb. It's really just the Atkins diet renamed 10 years later lol.

    Now I try to stick to 90% outside accountability diet and I've lost that weight and more in the last year. It's so much easier and I can eat whatever I want.

    Oh I just avoid anything with fake sweeteners. I really don't eat anything sweet when I'm on keto.

    And yeah it basically is just the atkins diet. If done poorly you can put on some serious weight.

    And clog some serious arteries. Replacing carbs with fat for energy is a dangerous game.

    My rule now is 90% of my food has to come from the outside ring of the grocery store (Fresh Produce, Meat, Breads... all the packaged convenience stuff is in the middle), it has to be 90% or higher lean meat, 90% of my food has to be freshly prepared, 90% has to be made at home, and I'm accountable for every bite I take with tracking. It has really taught me a TON about whats actually in foods, how to compare calories, how to eat healthy foods without breaking the bank, how to cook food that doesn't take hours, etc... And when I really want that can of soda I just make adjustments for it.

    I've been doing Keto for about 5-6 years and I have lost 140 lbs and kept it off. It's all about thinking of food as energy and not always as a treat. You eat when you are hungry and try not to eat because of stress. I use Truvia for any sweet thing I do and it helps me with cravings. I've fallen off the wagon but I quickly get back into it because we are humans.
