Isn't xeriscaping big out that way? I always thought that stuff looked way more amazing than a lawn. A lawn is literally just signing up to hate yourself. Seems much better to be in a place where next to nothing will grow & just selectively grab some crap that does grow + looks semi cool.

Y'all basically took weeds & decided "this is proper landscaping now" - way smarter than the way we do it here.

 

I have them in my yard and I live in the desert. My rabbit used to eat them all though. She ate everything that wasn't grass first, then ate all the grass.

 

I have no idea what you just said for the first two sentences. I had a lawn in the first house because I never lived in arizona before and it looked real nice when I bought it. After? Not so much.

Now I have lots of pretty rocks and cactii

 

Dude we get wild bunnies here and they are AMAZING at lawncare maintenance. But too unreliable & liable to get eaten by hawks apparently because stupid.

Pretty rocks & cactii == xeriscaping lol. Its basically "landscaping for the desert" in my very limited understanding (seeing pretty but probably unrealistic pictures on Pinterest).

 

I do not like people working while I am eating pizza and playing games.

I got really unlucky with my first house buying experience, I didn't know what to look for or what I was doing and that entire property was a shit show. Unlicensed addition, shitty redone pool with a filter on it for a spa, a huge chunk of grass in the back that was a pain and a half to take care of and often dieeeed, 0 insulation in the attic and holy shit do not buy a house in arizona with brick walls facing the southeast unless you like to completely abandon your master bedroom in the summer and wall it off so it doesn't make the AC bills go up even higher.

 

Also, cats. They would attack my bunny until I got a giant dog that mostly stays outside. They can be destructive too. Anything with flowers is getting nibbled down to stems. Had a rosemary bush that got eaten down to one little stem sticking up out of the dirt.

Desert landscaping is easy now that we put all the irrigation underground and put it on electronic timers. Get that ground sterilizer stuff once and year for the parts covered in rocks so weeds don't grow. Blow all the other stuff in your neighbor's yard. ezpz

 

Hopefully with faster servers because my hourly on those was less than 2 dollars.
