Yeah, the school should have at least contacted you and asked what they could have brought in for your kid.

So I wonder...one mom of a kid my kid went to school with did this...her son had massive dietary restrictions, like beyond anything I've ever seen. She stocked the teachers with "treats" they kept stashed away for days that us parents would bring in approved treats for the rest of the class. That way her kiddo got something special, too, and she didn't worry about us parents accidentally giving her kiddo something that would hurt him. Can you stash some treats for him at school so he at least gets something?

I asked. They told me no. Because they do breakfast in the classroom as well, to help combat hunger because a lot of the kids are from poor rural areas. Thankfully this doesn't apply to RJ, but he still likes to eat when the other kids do, but he can't. He always eats at home. They told me I couldn't send anything in for him to eat in place of that.

What grade is this? I'm trying to judge just how much my kid is gonna hate me b/c I can't imagine caring about this at all past elementary school

One that doesn't really like RJ. He's been deemed a problem child from the get go cause he gets in trouble a lot for humming. Yes, humming. It's a self soothing mechanism for him and he has always done it. The teachers think he's just being disruptive. We have been over and over this but they don't care.
