03/19 - Throw Down Thursday!

I missed the boat on shorting at the beginning, and now realistic put options are priced like the market's going to keep crashing. Hindsight 20/20 and all.

Cash is king right now. I'm not a professional, and therefore offer no investment advice, but I'd like to think I know a thing or two about a thing or two and I wouldn't advise that.

More like "We stand to make a fuckton of money off of people staying home all day so we're going to milk this at the expense of employee health"

 

All the experts I just looked at said keep contributing as things will even out as they always do. Unless this is the beginning of a drastic change that we will never recover from then it will bounce back.

Hopefully Kiddo's college fund will, too.

I have healthy cash reserves so getting an emergency fund isn't a real concern right now. And I don't want to miss out on the matching contribution. I made it through '08, so will make it through this I guess.

My retirement went up 8% today, but overall is kinda down. Today must have been a good day.

It's pretty down but...just gotta leave it there. off to check kiddo's college fund which is in an age based track so let's hope it's not too bad since he's older.

 

It's impossible to time the market, so you dollar average over time. Buy a little on the way down, at the bottom, and the way back up over months.

time in the market makes more sense than timing the market. - buying as soon as possible is on average better than spreading out your contributions little by little.

however this is not a normal market situation at all. So just throw all those rules of thumbs out the window IMO.

in the long run probably going up though of course, so I'm not too concerned personally, as I have decades before my the vast majority of my wealth that is in the stock market even matters.

But people invest for different reasons. If you're looking to make a quick buck is vastly different than looking to secure a retirement.

 

Kiddo's college fund is down, but overall since inception still has a 6% gain.

So. While down, we're not out.

I want to vomit looking at my retirement at how much I've lost just since January. Gagggggggg.........but, I'm not that close to retirement so...once the market recovers I need to switch more to the targeted account so it gets more conservative as I get older.
