tw for eating disorder ("ED"), no heavy details though. ty for reading if you do

so i get that this isn't entirely requesters faults, it's more of a societal thing. but i'm tired of getting questions about "what diet are you on uwu" and "have you eaten 923 more oreos since the start of 'Rona"

the diet questions are semi regular on sites like crowdtap and paidviewpoint as like a general thing, and i get they're trying to screen people, but as someone who's recovering from an eating disorder it is annoying as hell to have to deal with questions that could be possibly triggering to me and to others.

no, i am not on a diet, no, i probably will not be on a diet within the next 20 years or whatever, yes, my health is fine.

like just exercising in general gets to me? it's like such a diet culture related thing that i just. don't want to do it if it's not explicitly for transportation. i know that's maybe not a good thing, i don't mind walking and stuff in general, but when "exercise" is almost always associated with "lose weight! get fit! gain muscle!"

it makes me not want to do it because i'm at the point in recovery where i am still scared to do anything that used to trigger me, even though i'm good from a physical and "i can eat whatever without feeling guilty" standpoint.

i feel like i'm doing a poor job at explaining what i mean lmao. for me, eating disorder stuff is very OCD-like. in recovery early on i was basically fighting my ED tooth and nail by myself, and the only thing that really 95% nipped it in the bud was going on fluoxetine, which zapped ED thoughts in like less than a week. i'm not exaggerating. i can't be off of it for more than a couple of days without everything tanking.

meds didn't fix everything. they made things a lot easier, however if my mood is shit or i read a certain post somewhere with specific wording, i will be taking the ED train until i can snap myself out of it somehow.

a lot of ED thoughts masquerade as diet culture bs or are encouraged by others or your own brain, especially if you're at a weight that's seen as overweight/undesirable in some way. it's just how ED shit works in terms of the feedback loop you're on, and it's fucking toxic as hell.

i don't mind questions about health and how i'm thinking about eating in the context of a survey on eating disorders, in fact, i really wouldn't mind taking one, but for me personally, questions on what i am eating, how much i am working out, and what diet i've been on are entirely unwarranted, uneeded, and can be triggering, and i just wish there was a better way to approach this subject matter in general.


tl:dr; i wish there was an option for "don't send me questions about food or exercise unless it's in the context of EDs/and or ED recovery and doesn't relate to diet culture"

I suffer from borderline peronality disorder. I feel the same answering surveys that are clearly psych in nature and can sometimes be harsh with their questioning. They are tough to answer at best and I return most of them for my psyche.
