This is probably the best cheap sewing machine on the market. If you know you'll be doing a lot of denim and leather, the next step up is in the ~$300 range, something like a metal body Janome.

Thanks! For starters I just want to learn how to modify clothes to make a better fit (I'm super tall so sometimes it's hard to find clothes that fit well outside of tall section of stores) I feel like I'm a large length ways and medium in waist/bust, it's a struggle. Eventually it would be nice to be able to make clothes from fabric, tops, skirts, dresses. I was looking at this one too.
