    My strategy has always been to never contact them for any reason. Basically the classroom strategy of not making eye contact with the teacher.

    Sometimes that would backfire though...especially with English teachers. I developed a strategy where I tried to look at them so confidently, that it would throw them off and they just assumed I had given an answer or took my turn reading recently.
