They'd just have to block me as a worker because that money would already be on its way to my bank.

 

There's no obligation to refund, nor any functionality on MTurk that would make it possible. I've had a requester ask for the base payment for their HIT back before with a "refund" through MTurk. I politely declined and mentioned it was not possible on the platform.

 

A pretty simple decimal error could result in sending out 10x bonus to everyone. If using the API it'd be a done deal & all they'd get is a nice message letting them know their funds are all gone :/

 

Good morning. The refund thing did happen several years ago. The requester asked for all but 30 dolllars of the refunds back sent through PayPal. Don't remember which requester but she is one of the good ones who still posts.

 

I actually thought it might be legit too.It was one of those hits that chooses one of your decisions. There was one recently that had a percentage like 5% chance of winning big money. Can't recall if it was that one though. They all blur together.

 

It sucks that someone REALLY fucked up on those bonuses, and they'll probably get in trouble.

Pretty sure everyone will keep it, I would too as well, since there's no real way for it to be returned, at least not easily.

Unless this requester is playing 4D chess and this is actually the experiment --- give a bunch of people way too much money, see who jumps through hoops to return it.

 

I've only had a req double boner me once and I sent it back paypal. They didn't contact me I messaged them and offered to for the error. I would never do it again though because that dick didn't say thank you.

There's really not another option. I may be one of the most pro-Requester workers around and even I'd tell them that sucks but I can't really help you, work it out w/ Amazon.

The only semi-viable option is PayPal, which means you'd have to unmask identity for them. Frankly, Amazon should be eating the cost here as they're the processor. I'm sure none of us really want to see a reversal system implemented, but if this kind of thing happens then its on them to get that built/done.

 

Just reply back to that req with a beach photo and an umbrella drink in your hand
