A few weeks ago when my dad and I were repairing the siding on the house, a drone flew over us, went away, and then came back....I was kinda creeped out

 

I thought it was very cool until it hovered above me like that, yeesh.

 

but we were besties.

 

I just assumed it was typed in haste and that my world was quietly falling apart as I tried to reconcile the urge to give a spellcheck reaction with my deep need to burn all titles with typos to the ground. Or, something like that, really I shouldn't be so dramatic about a simple error. OR SHOULD I?! ANSWER ME @ChrisTurk - WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO MY SOUL?!

AKA I must have been the only person online and available to be talked at.

 

I guess my question for this advice would be, how?

How do I know what qualifications to go after, and how do I actually get them? Like, I've tried to get some and they all just list pending. Is there some master list somewhere that says: here are the 10, 100, 1000 qualifications that have the most earning potential, and here's specifically how to get them?

Or is it just, search the word test, hope to find something that actually lets you take the test, and then hope the test isn't just stuck in pending limbo forever?

 

I renamed my account back to CT, Todd is gone sadly. Simple question, but you're about to get a very long answer because I tend to not to this without putting a lot of thought in.. TH being no exception

But mostly.. there weren't a lot of options left. I didn't want to go mturk<something> because it'd be too hard to distinguish with the existence of MTC and I figured we'd get "lost" in the "crowd" (lols) of forums. + MTF follows the same naming convention and has a ridiculous stranglehold on "SEO" because of it.

TurkerNation does exist.. but frankly I don't or didn't see it as something I'd be encroaching on because they're kind of a closed community AFAIK. I don't know anyone who goes there, its kind of just secluded off pet project for spamgirl. TN embodies everything I think a community shouldn't be.

The acronym was my next concern, but TH is fine and unique within the turking community so that checked that box off. I didn't want something that'd be confused w/ any popular scripts/reqs at the time (and IIRC this actually ruled out one name on my brainstorming list lol).

I know "hub" is kinda sorta overused across the Internet but I love the idea behind it. Being a place to go for all things mTurk is important to me, as is connecting workers & requesters. That second part is looming large on the horizon.

My baseline motto for TH is "Connecting Turkers" - I try to keep that in mind whenever I'm designing features/guiding general direction of the place. Fail as I might hahaha.

At this point I have probably a 2-3 yr roadmap built for TH. It may be silly for a "forum" but I treat this place as seriously as any other project I've taken on in the past and overall I'm very happy with whats come of it. Only some of the old MTG'ers can truly appreciate it because what we left was an absolute and undeniable shit hole. The mentality, the community, honestly we were all largely toxic douche bags and that is not the vibe TH gives off from people I've spoken to. Its a huge point of pride for me even though most of the "accomplishment" comes from the mod team + prolific members who've settled down here. But even the way I carry myself here is night and day compared to MTG lol (@WishATurkerWould can probably attest to this )

Ignore the above.. this is the true inspiration (I hate PH, their selection is too commercialized).
