Vallejo is getting close to the $2k average now from all the ones that left the city like me....... And you know damn well that a fridge box is nicer than 80% of the shit here.

I know, they say it's because pot was legalized. but that doesn't sound right to me because a lot of these people are 18-25 and have no money, many actually arrive on welfare, and most avoid getting jobs here. they are badly straining the social services systems here.

An example in my building 4 years ago the studios were $650....the recent one to move in to that same studio is paying $1250. Our 1 bedroom is locked in at $1050.00 not because the owner isn't greedy but because I've done a shit ton of work for him and he knows I'd kick his ass if I got an increase notice. If we left it would be $1850 minimum

I can't even. like where/when does this stop? I haven't really said much because I keep thinking it's going to level off at some point. but more and more problems everywhere because of the greedy rents. it's just straight up for years and years now, not stopped.

i highly doubt it was pot, weed laws have not been enforced in california for a decade. your social services are probably might better than ours and people decided to migrate before becoming homeless. the amount of homeless people in san jose is shocking

Yeah it's nuts....it is too late for Vallejo now and the city council failed the people by not getting rent control in place 2-3 years ago when this started here.

Depends on how far out in the sticks you are. Rent is pretty cheap once you move outside of metropolitan areas.

social services both public and private were more generous here until recently. now some places are refusing to even talk to anyone who isn't from whatever area. so much of the need is from other places, we need them to just keep driving past here.

It's pretty low for where I am but you can find other places like this pretty close to that price. I'm in the midwest

You also have to consider increasing minimum wage when you rationalize the cost of living also increasing. There's a lot of factors, including the fact that a lot of people move to the city for better job opportunities and higher salaries.

rent control used to be sort of a bad word decades ago...now it sounds GREAT! this increase...increase...increase is going to end somehow, that might have to be done to stop it finally.

See now it is beautiful country out there but I just can't do it yet. Soon as they get electricity and the internet out there I can, I can do without the paved roads and indoor plumbing but I must have power and the internet.

LOL I hope everyone knows I'm kidding

there aren't any better jobs or higher salaries, they are minimum wage. and my neighborhood has 35% unemployment in a big city right now.
