Oh I'm jking. I'm sadly lucky to not really believe in the slow down periods as much since experience, quals, etc kind of help "weather the storm" so to speak. I joined mTurk in April so when I was learning I was basically babied into enough experience that I could "survive the summer". Plus that first summer I joined mTurk PFA posted $100/hr batches basically the entire time lmao, I was babied into mTurk more or less .

There is almost always work available on mTurk if you're willing to go out and get it. But if you survive solely on the academic plan it can be kinda rough I guess. I generally will only do $10-20 in surveys/day before wanting to put my brain into a blender, so I basically live "immune" to the survey slowdowns since I never do enough to exhaust the full pool of available ones, so anecdotally I never get to see the effects of any of the academic slow periods.

 

You can do $100/surveys a day without running out even during the summer. Well your sanity might run out but that is a different story.

 

Oh, I'm still making 30-40 a day, but I'm hoping it picks up cause...well...I have no closed quals or anything that makes me special.
