    Yea, it's really expensive collecting a legit sample. And my experience only deals with really short surveys - less than 10 questions conducted via phone polls. Some of the long 20-30 minute surveys would be laughably expensive compared to the Mturk rate of $3 a person.

    But if the other option is a sample composed solely of students willing to go to a lab in exchange for free pizza or extra credit, I guess Mturk brings a more representative sample.
