Please write a short essay about....

 

So, I'm polling the forum for ideas today for a very important mission. Normally, I can come up with a gift idea super quick, but I'm trying to think of something to send my friend who just moved because she's incredibly homesick and missing people, etc. I'm trying to think of something cute to send her to cheer her up, cause being homesick when you just moved is pretty natural, and someone we know is being a little shit and telling her that "maybe she made a mistake blah blah blah," and she's having a spiral. (If I knew who that was exactly, I would go tell them to stuff it).

outside of sending her her shitty ex boyfriend's fingers in a box (joking, this was matt's helpful idea) or flowers (I decided to wait to send her flowers at work, cause I can't imagine that being an issue for an engineer, but if she's feeling self conscious at her new job she just started last week, not gonna call attention to her just yet that way), I'm a little out of ideas right now.

Tlr- trying to cheer up friend in Seattle, need cute gift ideas cause I can't hop in a plane and go comfort her right now. (this is still option Z)

They're actually super fking cool, probably more so when there are that many of them. I was actually worried they were bats because I thought bats would be protected & couldn't get rid of them.. turns out the opposite is true, these stupid things are protected (most bats here aren't) & I'm stuck w/ them until November when they head home.

But its turned out alright... at dusk they all head out and legit just run circles around the house, they'll dive bomb within feet of you if you stand outside. Its the coolest thing ever. We have terrible mosquito problems out here in SC and these things have nuked everything that flies within 100 yds of my house.

Next spring anyone who wants to VRAPI me just start google satellite'ing around SC, look for the house with a ton of random chimneys surrounding it with no houses attached to 'em. That's me. I became bird man, because I freaking hate gnats
