Someone very nicely explained to me about batch sharing and how its gets scraped for other sites etc, so I agreed it was a good idea to post batches in non-standard format (just saying PFA, or linking to the group ID). But I'm still gonna share, and I'm also not going to shit on anyone who does export.

Forums are for information, sure, but they have become way more of an exercise in spoon feeding than they once were. People used to find HITS on their owns, figure out what was good and what wasn't. Batches used to last much, much longer than they do now for a reason, and it's not merely more people are on mTurk.

If you're relying on this forum to know when PFAs or other common batches drop and not using the tools available to you and finding things for yourself, you're doing it wrong.

This community is designed to help people turk more efficiently and provide help to new turkers above all. Announcing every time a batch drops just ends up hurting everyone collectively.

Everyone has their opinion on this and I think it's great to share HITs, but sharing =/= spoonfeeding.

 

I'd move on. It's what always used to happen. All the survey sharing is great. Even mentioning batches is good once in a while, but mentioning a batch and providing information on it every day? Multiple times a day? I'm just surprised people are surprised it's hard to catch a few in a batch of a 1000.

 

We should probably share good batches in private chat somewhere, but no one wants to share batches because that's money they could be making.

 

I can't remember the last time I caught a queue full of PFAs. I used to sit there and work on them for over an hour.

I feel like I've been hearing this for years. Batches come and go. An efficient turker will find something else to work on once they feel we've reached peak batch saturation. Some people would refuse to do Zs and still have very lucrative days, for instance.

The problem with Mturk is that people are happy making $6/hr. So as long as they're making that, they don't care how much they could be making if they'd stfu every so often.
