Why am I asked to register with Amazon Payments?

So it’s looking like mturk randomly decided one day they couldn’t verify our identities and told Amazon Payments to suspend our payment accounts. Bizarre. Would have been nice to get communication from mturk about this BEFORE they broke our Turk accounts instead of waking up and not being able to do HITS a week ago.

 

I never did all that, and my bank account was verified. I think this is an old post.

The health service dashboard showing that they are issues is a good sign imo, however, that may just mean that random suspensions will stop soon. The big question I think is, will my account go back to normal once they fix whatever it is causing it, or will they just fix it, and make everyone affected go through their customer service channels to verify their accounts once again.

 

This news has been spreading in the media. We know it's not an isolated incident, we need them to talk about us.

Looks like it is the same error, although with different wording. The fix is incoming since it started affecting a side of their company they do care about.

 

This is the most confusing situation ever. I see Joe was sent an email from Amazon Payments telling him to upload his ID and utility bill to verify his identity. Yet I received an email yesterday telling me to create a new payment account. But according to Michael mturk doesn’t even utilize amazon payments anymore. Why are the amazon payments people all saying different things?!

 

I wonder how many of these emails come from auto responders.

Totally agree. I just do them to raise my HIT total a bit more. and raise my acceptance rate, especially after my rejection the other day. Ugh

 

I actually hope we would, that would be a marked improvement over the current standard of effectively telling everyone to go fuck themselves.

 

I use A9 for that, not sure what name they go by nowadays, but I remember I used to max out on accepted daily tasks when working on those.

 

When I was banned last year, I faxed over a picture of my driver's license and my worker ID with a message explaining that I was doing it to expedite ID verification. I'm unsure if it helped me or not. I got two emails from MTurk about my suspension, both saying I was unbanned, but one came weeks later, and I kinda thought maybe that was someone manually reviewing my fax

 

Do you remember what the HIT was about doing? If they are worth doing, I'll do that too. It has taken me years to get from 96% to 98.7%, but the ones I used to use for that like James Billings are no longer around.

 

they were image classification, the pay ranged from 1-3 cents, but I had a decent rate going by writing some scripts. Basically the whole hit is radio buttons and a submit button, so when a batch posted, I would assign keys to each radio button following the usual MOBA button layout (QWER) and after doing a few hits, I would just be able to look at the image and press the appropriate key then submit, I had a nicer setup then so I could run four tabs at once so instead of waiting for them to reload, I would just have multiple tabs on auto accept and switch clockwise after submitting. This was on the old site, so not sure if it is doable nowadays. And my PE was basically limited by the pay on the hits as the max amount of accepted hits was 3600 and it is accepted, not summitted so if you return some, you are missing on some pennies, however when 2+ cents batches posted, then the money was at least decent. It was boring, and grinding and time consuming, but I could listen to music, or an audiobook simultaneously which made it more bearable. I am not much for writing scripts, but I dugout a script from hit forker that made use of radio buttons, and with the guidance of some now gone turkers from this forum back on the MTG days, I was able to figure out how to make something simple that worked for them, then It was just a matter of opening the new batch, and get the page source and by using the old script as reference, I would make a new one for the new batch. That brings up a lot of memories, life was simpler and had much less responsibilities.

 

Yes, It was simpler back then. I was out of MTurk for a couple of years and recently came back out of need. I remember LOTS of HITs coming through all the time. Now it's so barren compared to say 5 years ago. I'm still "relearning" my Turking technique.

 

I haven't heard anyone say they'd been suspended yet this morning. I wonder if it's getting any better.

 

I think they rolled out some update, and then the issues started, in an attempt of fixing them, then we had a day down for everyone, and there is suspicion about the glitch being triggered when payments process, which may explain why they were different waves. Maybe all accounts were affected on the same wave but due to pay frequency it hit their account at a different time. I wonder if maybe people that had their account verified on the old site, and were able to migrate it to the new one on 2019 are the ones being affected, or maybe people who have moved since the site change, or creating their accounts or something. Not sure what the root of the problem is, but things like this just make me wonder, and I would love to find out what the problem was/is, but I feel that amazon wont be forthcoming with the problem itself.
