    When I started out in Tech I worked for Verizon as a DSL Phone Tech and actually had people call in asking why their DSL didn't work and their power was out

    When I worked for the campus help desk years ago I had a lady call me and tell me that her mouse stopped working. I told her to go ahead and unplug the mouse and bring it to my desk so I could test it and fix it or replace it. Ten minutes later the user goes offline and after my meeting I come to my desk to find a tower with keyboard, mouse and monitor plugged in. I learned my lesson that day to be very specific about how to do something and never assume the client knows what they are doing. The mouse just had gunk built up over the lens from being used on a mouse pad that had the gel cushion that started to leak. I mean I can laugh about it now but having to drag it back and hook it back up was not a lot of fun for how simple the fix was.
