Sounds like getting out of there might be best for you both financially and mentally. Not that my place is ideal, but c-o-l here is ridiculously low. I could probably live on $8-10k/year. Only drawback is I have to drive pretty much anywhere, and anything worth doing is a half hour or more away.

 

gentrification is bullshit. it's literally elimination of lower income people in favor of higher income people based on locations getting popular. they essentially run you out of your home. there should be laws to protect people's rent prices for staying at a place for more than a year.

Different strokes, I suppose. I'd much rather live in a city, but there's a lot of strings keeping me here for the time being that I won't bore the thread with

also if you move to a city, don't accept any soft items like sofa, clothes, etc. because some have city types of bugs. other than that my apt. would be great if it didn't have the harassing alcoholic who won't move out and the insane cost.
