I think there is a special place in karma hell for adults who make fun of other adults for trying to learn something new. I skated a lot as a kid, but was always terrified of roller blades and still basically am. I'm sure I won't be good for a long time and someone needs to badger me and remind me to keep practing so I don't Grinch out! But damnit, I'm determined to pick up a new hobby even if it takes me ten minutes at a time until I die!

Although I would extend this to say "anyone who makes fun of anyone trying to do anything".
I practically become irate when someone sitting down makes fun of someone else dancing, for example.

Hell yes to that! I have so much more social anxiety now than I did as a kid and I kept thinking, 5 year old me would have been shameless in trying to learn something. I would have fallen on my face a million times in a row and kept going, so I figure adult Bird should try a little more of that spirit.

I mean, laugh at me because it's definitely funny how spastic I am and I'm laughing at myself every time I flail; but either get out there and try to outdo me OR SHUT THE HELL UP IN YOUR LAWN CHAIR Grinch.

Plus, my HRM says I burned about 200 calories and damn if I didn't have fun doing it!
