Basically, each of these black boxes is a website running in a totally different browser. The browsers have no way of knowing about each other. But they DO have a way of knowing about the local server (white box w/ red outline), and the local server, in turn, has a way of knowing about each of them. So even though they can't talk to each other directly, they can talk to each other through a middleman (a local server).
