FWIW on my end, someone who's a bit of a "lower earner" as far as TH goes (goal is about $25/day, but I also do most of my turking at work, so my attention is divided), I do appreciate people posting their PEs. It helps me get my motivation up. Back in 2013 when I was doing this full-time, I barely broke that on a good day, since standards were different and the HITs posted were different. You also didn't need all these scripts (though some were nice) to succeed. I think you guys are plenty helpful and all of my questions (bar a few when it's been too busy, but I've figured them out myself without issues) were answered to my satisfaction. Dunno what other peoples' problems are.

 

Also, there used to be like 900,000 hits available.

Yeah productRNR was always there, so...

Back when I was afraid to post or even low quality content message... I figured $6.00/hr was almost max outside of pure chance. The site simply doesn't respond that fast. We just got mass rejections off of a requester that decided we did work too fast. I know I'm not alone, because that was near top-end hourly and that was something that would happen several times a week back in the day.

There also used to be 1 million + HITs available... now it's 319,000? Yeah... I am salty, as in grains and grains of salt.

Do people earn? Sure. I don't down them, though. I know what is possible for me, and more importantly... tolerable. Brelig can suck a duck.

Yeah, but today being a slow Sunday night on a holiday weekend, it's a bit of an outlier. The social aspect is cranked up to 11, and has been all day. A lot of the stuff that newbies have to digest is "static content", because it's the kind of thing that doesn't really vary from one person's situation to the next.

It's not that other communities are more knowledgeable at all (quite the opposite), but rather, that some of them are full of tons of people who are just thrilled with the idea of being the "expert" to someone who is 100% new, so really basic questions get answered really, really quickly.

 

My bad, he's been semi-comatose all day because it's salmon sunday and he ate until he just about popped.

I'm not mean to people when they post questions but I'm referencing all sorts of Internet behavior here when I say that people won't use Google. It literally takes more time to post a question and wait on an answer than to Google it. What time is it in california right now? Google. What is the square root of -1? Google. How to I bake a chicken? Google. Sure, specific information can't always be found easily on Google (hard to ask for what you don't know that you don't know) but.....damn.

 

Hah, gotcha. I'm not a FB guy so I've never experienced how those groups even work to know, this makes more sense than what I was picturing though.

I'm always surprised by people in my group who told me that they talked with me on TurkerHub, or MTC, or Reddit or whatever.

Haven't seen your photo on there, Mr. Hasselhoff.

 

We were all grumps when it came to those newbs, and the culture you created here makes me more likely to care about them rather than say "go away, figure it out yourself, idiot". Half because you eliminated most of that need, and the other half because this place is way more friendly than MTG. I remember leafs saying he was terrified to post on MTG because he knew anything even remotely newbish would get chewed out relentlessly.

I also love watching people grow. No surprise there because I've always been a fan of minor league sports, but there's nothing better than watching people go from $10 a day to "holy shit, first $50!" to "yeah $500 weekly nbd."

 

What's the name of the group? One time, I joined adaaaams grouped for 45 seconds.
