You have a NEST or something? My house is not smart, so right now its essentially a $200 kitchen timer. I have multiple raspberry pi's running Kodi, but just looking at the Kodi workarounds for Echo control made my head hurt (its.. so convoluted )

I have a hard time finding practical uses for it that don't include spending oodles on replacing light bulbs and stuff lol.

Having a 'dumb' home is better. The internet of things stuff has basically no security and a lot of the stuff ends up as part of botnet.

15 mins sounds about right though.. that is around the amount of time they sleep at once during that age.

 

@ChrisTurk figured out why my little tool didn't work... It doesn't work when the page is zoomed out to a certain extent. It only works on this browser at 100% zoomed.

I hate when surveys ask you to donate money. I feel like a jerk for noping right out of that shit.

 

Well holy cow.. Same for Chrome. Yeah I have absolutely no idea why that is (not a webdev by trade), what a weird little intricacy. I'll look into it though.

 

It might have something to do with font rendering or something that modern browsers do with zooming. I do recall something similar to this happening a long time a go in an unrelated thing.

Is it only breaking in chrome or do other browsers break it in the same way?

 

She has vivaldi so probably the same across browsers.

the thermostat is ecobee and cost like 150 bucks. the lights I use are phillips and was quite expensive to load the house with them. It's pretty nifty being able to "alexa, dim the bedroom to 10 percent" though
