Hey ya'll!!

Hey everyone!! I found ya'll from another forum that was overrun by spam but I'm so glad I looked around a little and found this! I'm from South Carolina and I have a daughter who's about to turn 4 years old in January!! I'm pretty new at this and welcome any tips anyone may have for me. I have lots of time at the moment but I can't seem to figure out the best way to go about Turking. I only have about 77 HITS right now. I'd like to talk to some of you though! I'm shy and usually just lurk around forums instead of posting so this is something new! I'm hoping I can earn enough money to get my daughter a trampoline for her birthday. But beyond that I'd like to get in a good groove of knowing how to earn a little money for us too! Thanks in advanced for any replies, I'll be sure to write you back ASAP!! Woohoo! More SC folks are always welcome - as long as you're a Clemson fan (or a good liar ) haha.

For super fresh accounts the best thing you can do is try to cap quickly your first 10 days (you can only accept 100 HITs/day for your first 10 days, not including days you don't submit any HITs at all) while avoiding rejections. Avoiding rejections is key, and it means skipping some of the popular newbie-traps like p9r, scoutit, etc that tend to be reject happy for mistakes (try to look up requesters on TurkOpticon before doing work). You always want to maintain a >99% approval rating.

Scripts are probably the biggest learning curve for new Turkers because there are hundreds of them, not all up to date and certainly not many that are user friendly. mTurk Suite is a decent one to start with IMO, but many folks also recommend diving right in with Panda Crazy. Those two offer reading material for a week haha, but don't be afraid to ask specific questions if stuff doesn't make sense (don't feel bad if not much of it does, I still have 0 clue how PC works lol).

The wiki here is good for an organized read-through, even if you're already 'in the door' there are some account security tips in the start guide that are still worth perusing and it'll introduce you to a lot of the terminology you'll see on the Daily Threads, which is generally the best place to hang out & ask questions on a day to day basis.
